After-school Program
Public Schools will be closed Friday, February 17th in observance of Presidents’ Day.  The Growing place will be open for center activities.

Private Elementary and Pre-school Field-trip to R.C.C
We will be going to see our last play on February 10^th.”Alexander No NO No I’m not going to move”. This will be the last play for the school year.  Please pick-up a permission slip in your child’s classroom.

Kangaroos Visiting the Kindergarten Class
On February 6th& 7th our Kangaroos will get a chance to spend the day in Kindergarten. They will be checking out all the cool stuff kindergarten gets to do.

Visits are as follows:

Room 4 Feb.7^th

Parent Meeting For Private Kindergarten
We will be having a private kindergarten meeting on Feb. 8^th at 6:30 p.m. for all Pre-K parents interested in Private Kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. Child care will be provided.

Parent Night Out
Need a night out without the kids. The Growing   Placewill be having a parent fun night. Feb. 3^rd. from 7-11p.m. The Cost is $20 and we will be playing Bunco for prizes. There will be food and drinks served. If you are interested please    sign –up with Ms. Patty.

Valentine’s Day Celebration
Love is in the air!
Our Valentine’s Day parties will be held on Tuesday, February 14th.  Please look for a sign up sheet in your child’s classroom.  We ask that you bring in 1 box of valentine cards (ask your child’s teacher if one box is enough), signed, but not addressed.  Cards should be brought to the classrooms by Friday, February 3rd.

Cell Phones
Parents, we ask you to please leave your cell phones in your car while you drop off and pick up your child(ren). It is important that the teachers get a chance to talk to you if needed, As well as the office staff.  Thank you!!!

Just a friendly reminder: Our monthly menu is subject to change, due to food availability. Please check the posted menu in the front office for any changes If you have any questions please see Ms. Patty.

Pre-school Showtime Coming In March
Room 4’s show will be on Saturday, March 17^th and Room 3’s Show will be Friday, March 23^rd. More info coming soon.

Our “doughnuts and coffee to go” was a great hit. Our next Parent Appreciation Morning will be Jan.11^th

Basket Giveaway
There are two ways to be entered in our drawing; “Like” Us on Facebook and/or Place a review with Savvy source on our web site. When you do one/both of these tasks, we will add your name to the drawing to win. The drawing will be held on Jan. 19^th.

Extra! Extra!
Read all about it! This month in Room 3 & 4 we are having a reading incentive program which will involve parents, children and storytelling.  You will be given paper snowballs and every night you read a story, you fill out the snowball with name of story and author. If we receive enough snowballs to build a snowman, the children will earn an Ice Cream Party and a book to take home! Please see Ms. Laura for more info.

Private Elementary Christmas Show
The Christmas show was a great success.  Ms. Riggs, Ms. Flores and staff did a great job with all the songs and dance moves. A special Thank You to Mrs. Kosi for all her help with our props. Don’t forget to Pre-Order your DVD’s for $10 in the front office. Music cd’s from the show will be given to all the children the first week of Jan.

Preschool Holiday Book Exchange
This year, in celebration of the holidays, we ask that our students participate in a school-wide book celebration.  Book cost should range from $10.00 to $15.00 and should be age appropriate.  Remember, reading with your child is one of the greatest gifts you can give! Rooms 3 and 4 will do an exchange between friends. Rooms 1, 2, 7, &8 will be books you have purchased for your own child(ren). Please see your child’s classroom for more information.

Private Elementary Gift Exchange
We will be having a gift exchange Friday Dec. 16^th. Gifts should range between $12.00-$15.00. We will be picking names this week. Please see Ms. Riggs or Ms. Flores for more information.

T.G.P Holiday Party
Our Holiday Party and visit from Santa will be held on December 16th. Sign- up sheets will be posted in your child’s classroom.

Cookie Dough is Back!
Our fall fundraiser is back by popular demand. SaleStarts Nov. 18^th –Nov. 29^th. Orders will be delivered Dec. 13^th. Please make arrangements to pick –up your cookie dough order on this day after 12 p.m… Thanks in advance for helping us get new and fun games and supplies for our classrooms.

Check out great early holiday shopping ideas from Scholastic.  The holidays are right around the corner.  Books are a great way to enhance iteracy.  Please turn Scholastic book orders in by December 2nd, 2010.  Checks are payable to Scholastic.  Please remember to write your child’s name in the memo.

TGP Policies Regarding Vacation Requests for Infant through Pre-school
Your child(ren) must have been continuously enrolled for three (3) months prior to your vacation in order to qualify for vacation credit.  When two(2) weeks notice is provided, during each school year (Sept- Aug.), vacation credit is earned up to ten days, as computed on an annualized basis.  Vacation credit is not given for holidays or partial time.  Please remember that only one discounted program is allowed per family and may not be combined with any other discounted offers.  Make sure you get your requests in two weeks ahead of time!

Winter Break Arrangements
If you haven’t already, please fill out your form in the front office as soon as possible so that we can be prepared for your child’s attendance during the winter break.

Secret Santa Store
Starting Dec.5-9^th The Growing Place will be having a special holiday store just for kids. They can shop for family and friends, prices range from .25 – $12.00. Please see attached flier. If you have any questions please see Ms. Patty

New Car Seat Law as of Jan. 1, 2012
Parents as of January 1, 2012Californiahas passed a new law for children in car seats. They must be 8 years old or 4 ‘9”. So please make sure you are prepared for the new law.

December 9^th is our field trip to RCC for “The Elves & The Shoemaker.Field Trip permission slips are due by Dec 7^th.

November TGP Closures
The Growing Placewill be closed Thursday, November 24^th and Friday, November 25th, for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Thanksgiving Feast
Volunteer sign-up sheets will be posted in your child’s classroom to assist with providing desserts and other necessities.  Thank you for joining in our celebration of Thanksgiving.

Celebration Days For Our Feast Are As Follow:
Tuesday 15th – Rooms 1, 2 and private elementary
Wednesday 16^th – Rooms 3 and 7
Thursday 17^th – Rooms 4 and 8
Rooms 3, 4, and Private Elementary will be sending home invitations, so be on the lookout.

Open House Was A Great Success!
We would like to thank all the parents who came out in the rain to Open House. The kids were so excited to show off their classrooms and teachers. Also thank you to Ms. Patty for making a very yummy dinner for everyone.

Reminder:   Public School Closures /TGP Open for Center Activities
Traditional public school will be closed Nov. 11^th, for Veterans Day, and Nov. 18^th for parent teacher conferences.  Public school will also be closed Nov. 21^st thru Nov. 23^rd, for Thanksgiving recess.  The Growing Place will provide extended day care for your children. Please make sure you have submitted your attendance form to office by Oct. 28th.  An Administrative  $20.00 fee will be applied for late child care arrangements.

Attention Infant/Toddler Parents:
Please check your child’s cubby every day to make sure they have the supplies they need for the week .i.e. diapers, wipes, clothes, jackets, labeled bottles, etc…Also, make sure nails are trimmed. It is a TGP policy that each child has the supplies they need for each day to allow admittance for care.

Kids First Fundraiser
A Big Success! Thanks to all the parents who made this a great success. This was one of the best fundraisers we have had at The Growing Place. The children were really excited and involved. Thanks for all your support.

Cookie Dough Fundraiser
Our cookie dough Fundraiser is back by popular demand!  Please make all checks payable to The Growing Place with your family name in the memo.  Fundraiser will start on Nov. 15-29^th, with delivery on Dec. 13^th.  I can smell the cookies now!Please remember fundraising is an opportunity to show your support for our school; please feel free to participate in the ones that appeal to you. This year we are working hard to earn funds to enrich our classrooms and offset some of the costs of fieldtrips and in-house activities.

Fall Is Here!
The weather is changing, so please remember to check your child’s cubby for warmer clothes. Pants, shirts, socks, underwear etc… Don’t forget that potty training children (rm.8) need at least four changes of clothes in their cubby.

Cafeteria Update
Breakfast is served @ TGP.  Please check your child’s classroom schedule for times.  If you want to feed your child something, please do this prior to entering school.  Also, please take the opportunity to update any allergies your child may have with Miss Julia @ the front desk.

Private Elementary
Miss Riggs and Miss Rose would like to thank all the parents for coming to open house.  Please remember that our Thanksgiving Feast will be, Tuesday November 15^th.  Please sign up indicating your attendance because our seats are limited.
